Building on the unique capabilities of Wirepas Mesh to connect things at scale, Wirepas Positioning Engine enables identification and locating of assets within a low-energy Wirepas Mesh network. Uniquely the entire location infrastructure is powered by battery operated devices – ideal for locations where no mains power is available, or the cost of infrastructure installation would otherwise be cost prohibitive.
Utilizing off the shelf tag hardware containing common 2.4 GHz radios, Wirepas Positioning Engine provides a cost-efficient building block to enable the data driven supply chain and logistics.
Easy integration with existing enterprise systems is achieved through a rich set of APIs – location becomes just another data source to use in existing supply chain, logistics or facility management systems.
With Wirepas Positioning Engine, any data point can now be time and location stamped. The location can be collected in any environment; offices, hospitals, warehouses, factories, shipyards and harbors, oil and gas refineries, mines or construction sites.
Assets may be located indoors and outdoors. When an asset is outside the network, the tag can start sending a beacon that is receivable on a smart phone or a tablet. Within the Wirepas Mesh network, each item has a unique ID which gets reported with a time stamp, its location as well as sensor data, if required.

Optimized for low energy consumption
The location of the assets is calculated on a server using the Wirepas Positioning Engine. The Positioning Engine is a software library that takes input of the predefined anchor coordinates (reference points) and as an output provides asset coordinates (latitude, longitude). The customer can integrate it in their own back-end system and run it on their own cloud or private server.
The Wirepas Positioning Engine comes with fully functional tag reference firmware deployable on many commonly available tags that can be further customized or used directly in production.
