Nordic Cleantech Open once again presented the ten most promising cleantech startups in the Nordics. From over a hundred applicants, the jury consisting of more than 50 representatives from venture capital funds and industrial companies first narrowed the number down to 25 and later to just ten – the cream of the crop.
The Nordic Cleantech Open finals were held in Malmö as a part of Cleantech Capital Day, 19th of May 2015. Wirepas made it to the top ten shortlist and finally won the third prize. As a high-profile award, Nordic Cleantech Open is expected to open further opportunities for the winners – both in terms of visibility and financing.
Needless to say, Wirepas CEO Teppo Hemiä is happy. ”We are very proud at Wirepas for this award”, he says. “It further proves that our systematic effort with the focused SW based protocol stack strategy and business model is well recognized by the market”.
Operating in Tampere, Finland, Wirepas focuses on a product called Pino – a communication protocol that enables IoT (Internet of Things) networks of virtually unlimited size with zero infrastructure and configuration. Teppo Hemiä is confident that the IoT will be a major factor in the future of cleantech.
“Cleantech is much about efficiency, where IoT will have a great role in the future”, Hemiä explains. “Pino connectivity is and will be important part of IoT systems and we are privileged to contribute for higher sustainability in number of applications”.
